Vaccine Fridge Monitoring That Knows Who Is on Shift

A fridge alarm at 2 a.m. is only useful if someone can act on it. Feathergrid reads fridge sensors, equipment records and staff schedules together, so the right person hears about it first.

Every clinic that stores vaccines or temperature-sensitive medication has some kind of fridge monitoring. Usually it's a data logger and an alarm. When the temperature leaves the safe range, the alarm goes off.

That works if someone hears it. At 2 a.m., with a short-staffed shift, it often doesn't. And by the time the alarm trips, the excursion has already started.

Fine alone. Loud together.

Here's a day at one clinic:

  • The vaccine fridge door was opened 30 times today. Busy clinic, busy day.
  • Each time, the temperature takes a little longer to come back down.
  • The overnight shift is one person short.

None of these sets off an alarm. A busy day is normal. A slower recovery is still inside the safe range. A short shift is a scheduling fact, not an emergency.

Together, they're a fridge that's likely to drift out of range overnight, with no one assigned to check it. That's how a full stock of doses gets lost.

What Feathergrid connects

Feathergrid connects to what the clinic already has.

  • Sensors: medication and vaccine fridge temperatures, door sensors, room temperature and humidity.
  • Systems: staff scheduling and equipment service records.
  • Data: delivery and inventory logs.
  • External APIs: weather and power-outage alerts.

It watches equipment, storage and schedules. It doesn't need patient records.

How it plays out

Here's an example.

At 6 p.m., before the day staff leave, Feathergrid sees the pattern: heavy door use, slowing recovery, and a thin overnight shift. It texts the charge nurse and recommends moving the doses to the backup fridge before close, with the reasons attached.

The charge nurse moves them in ten minutes. The main fridge gets checked in the morning. Nothing is lost.

If the fridge does drift overnight anyway, Feathergrid knows who is actually on shift and alerts that person by text or email, not a phone at an empty front desk.

A person stays in charge

Feathergrid recommends. Your staff decide.

  • Every recommendation shows its reasons, so a nurse or manager can check them before acting.
  • You set the rules for what happens automatically and what waits for a person.
  • One switch stops all automated actions.
  • Every step goes into a tamper-evident record: the reading, the alert, who was told, and what they did. That's the record you want when an inspector or a vaccine program asks what happened.

Where to start

Start with the fridges that hold your most expensive or hardest-to-replace stock. Connect the temperature and door sensors you already have, add the staff schedule, and let Feathergrid learn what a normal day looks like.
